About The Balsmans

Balsman Photography is a family owned and operated fine portrait and wedding photography studio. Husband and wife team, Bob and Kim Balsman, have a combined 40 years of experience in photographic arts. Kim is a professionally trained photographer and graduate of the New York Institute of Photography. She is a full-time professional photographer and member of Professional Photographers of America, Wedding and Portrait Photographers International and Senior Portrait Artists. Kim is also a published author of numerous photography related articles as well as other journalistic and creative works. Bob is a full-time IT professional and part-time photographer with special expertise in event photography.

As parents themselves, they understand the importance of professional photography and why their clients choose to come to Balsman Photography. The Balsmans genuinely care about their clients and take great pride in quality craftsmanship and personalized service. Perhaps that's why the Balsman name has become known for beauty, excellence and impeccable service.

Our Style & Philosophy

Photography means so much more to us than taking pictures. It's capturing in one fleeting moment the hearts and souls of our clients in timeless images that speak to us in deeply personal ways. The art of photography is not about the equipment, the studio or any other tangible object. It's about emotion, expression and beauty. We approach each and every session with this in mind.

We are noted for our unique and creative blend of classic portraiture and contemporary artistic photography with an emphasis on relaxed and natural poses and specialized lighting techniques. Simplicity is the cornerstone of our art. We use few, if any, props to tell the stories of our subjects. As part of our acclaimed personalized service, we take the time to get to know our clients before we begin shooting a session. This may take more time, but it gives us the opportunity to truly understand our clients and capture their unique personalities and character.

We believe that the creative photographic process is a partnership between studio and client. Thus, it's important that client and studio are a good match for each other. We know our style and methods may not be for everyone. We want you to be happy, even if it means that you ultimately choose another studio that better fits your needs. About The Studio

Balsman Photography is located in northeast Longmont, Colorado, near Ute Creek Golf Course. Our studio offers clients all the comforts of home, including a crackling fireplace, comfy furnishings and complimentary drinks and refreshments, including gourmet coffees. Our studio has been carefully child-proofed and offers all the necessary baby and toddler amenities, including a baby changing table, age appropriate toys and movies. Our camera room boasts state-of-the-art camera equipment, lighting and dozens of backdrops, funky furniture and set designs.
